Myddelton House Gardens Scoops Gold, Silver and Bronze!

Myddelton House Gardens scoops gold, silver and bronze at Enfield in Bloom awards

It was a hat trick for Myddelton House Gardens at the Enfield in Bloom awards ceremony held on Thursday 15 November at the Royal Chase Hotel, Enfield.

Senior Gardener, James Hall attended the event and was proud to collect three awards, including: Gold in the Exceptional Horticultural Contribution to the Community category for the second year running, in recognition of the first-rate facilities, manicured gardens and our continuing role in engaging with local community groups and visitors.

Silver in the Best Innovative Growing Space category, acknowledging the innovative approaches used to grow fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables in the heritage Kitchen Garden. All produce is grown using organic principles, such as biological controls instead of chemicals, and adopting the no-dig method in the rotational vegetable beds.

Bronze in the Best Environmental and Wildlife Garden category for the meadow areas. Several areas of annual flower meadows were sown around the garden earlier this year and two new areas of perennial wildflower meadow were created, which should really come into their own next year. James commented on these exciting wins: “We are delighted to win these awards in recognition of all the hard work the gardening team has put in over the last year. Enfield in Bloom’s ethos is to encourage and make lasting improvements to our local environment, with a focus on environmental and sustainability. We share the scheme’s values and are proud to be able to offer our visitors organically produced fruit and vegetables grown onsite in the Kitchen Garden and preserve the areas set aside for wildlife meadows.” These latest Enfield in Bloom awards join a growing number of prestigious accolades for Myddelton House Gardens including London in Bloom, Green Flag as well as Green Heritage Site status.
